worship God who works in our lives
(Psalm 18)
I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my mountain where I seek refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I was saved from my enemies. |

(Philippians 2:5-11)
Make your own attitude that of Christ Jesus, 6 who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be used for His own advantage. 7 Instead He emptied Himself by assuming the form of a slave, taking on the likeness of men. And when He had come as a man in His external form, 8 He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death-- even to death on a cross. 9 For this reason God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow-- of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth-- 11 and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. |
Worship jesus as the lamb of god.
35 Again the next day, John was standing with two of his disciples. 36 When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, “Look! The Lamb of God!”
40 Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard John and followed Him. 41 He first found his own brother Simon and told him, “We have found the Messiah!” (which means “Anointed One”), 42 and he brought Simon to Jesus. When Jesus saw him, He said, “You are Simon, son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which means “Rock”). |

23 Jesus was going all over Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. 24 Then the news about Him spread throughout Syria. So they brought to Him all those who were afflicted, those suffering from various diseases and intense pains, the demon-possessed, the epileptics, and the paralytics. And He healed them. 25 Large crowds followed Him from Galilee, Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and beyond the Jordan.
Jesus taught the good news that He came to save people from their sin and to follow Him. Jesus was the promised Messiah. Because Jesus is God, He has the power and authority to heal and forgive. Jesus offers forgiveness to those who know and love Him. |

Revelation 15:3-4
Lord God Almighty, You do great and wonderful things! Everything the Lord does is right and true, King of the nations. Everyone will respect you, Lord, And will honor you. Only you are holy. All the nations will come and worship you, Because the right things you have done Are now made known. In Jesus' name, amen. |
27 Immediately Jesus spoke to them. “Have courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
And climbing out of the boat, Peter started walking on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the strength of the wind, he was afraid. And beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus reached out His hand, caught hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 When they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 Then those in the boat worshiped Him and said, “Truly You are the Son of God!” When Jesus calmed the wind and the waves, He showed His disciples that He is also God. God has power to rule over the wind and the waves and all of creation. |

praise god for giving eternal life through Jesus christ
Jesus said, “Unless someone is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
"Whatever is born of the Spirit is spirit... The wind blows where it pleases, and you hear its sound, but you don’t know where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit." Everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life. For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world that He might condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him." Without Jesus, we are spiritually dead. Sin separates us from God. When God graciously gives people the Holy Spirit, they are "born again" -- they receive new life and become God's children. Jesus offers new life to those who trust in Him for salvation. |

25 And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?” 27 And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself.” 28 And he said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.”
29 But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 30 Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead... 36 Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” 37 He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.” |
jesus washes the disciples' feet (John 13:1-17)
|
3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God, 4 rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. 5 Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no share with me.” 9 Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head!” 10 Jesus said to him, “The one who has bathed does not need to wash, except for his feet, but is completely clean. And you are clean, but not every one of you.” 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” |

praise god for Jesus is risen
The crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus is the center of the gospel. We deserve to die because of our sin, but Jesus died in our place. He was the blood sacrifice made once and for all of rate forgiveness of sin. God was pleased with Jesus' sacrifice and raise Jesus from the dead to reign as king over all creation. We are forgiven only through Jesus. The angel said that Jesus had risen, just as He said He would.
Jesus appears to two disciples on the road to Emmaus. The Bible is all about Jesus. All of the Old Testament points forward to Jesus' life, death, and resurrect when Jesus would bring God's promised salvation for sinners. After the two disciples realized that it had been Jesus talking to them, they immediately went back to Jerusalem to tell the others. Jesus appeared to the disciples who had run away from Him just days before. Jesus can offer peace because of His death in their place. Those who believe without seeing are blessed. The good news is about what Jesus has done to rescue our sins. Jesus wants His followers to teach people everywhere about the good news of Jesus so they will trust in Him as their Lord and Savior. |
praise god for jesus giving us new birth
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

Praise god for telling about jesus.
28:17 And when the disciples saw Jesus, they worshiped him, but some doubted.18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
The good news about what Jesus has done to rescue us from our sins is too great to keep to ourselves. Before Jesus went back to heaven, He gave the disciples a job to do. Jesus wants His followers to teach people everywhere about Jesus so they will trust in Him as their Lord and Savior. "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. Jesus left earth and returned to heaven, but He did not leave us alone. Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit to be with us and help us do God's work. One day Jesus will return to make all things new and to rule as Lord over all. |

The holy spirit came
2:1 When the day of Pentecost had arrived, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like that of a violent rushing wind came from heaven, and it filled the whole house where they were staying. 3 And tongues, like flames of fire that were divided, appeared to them and rested on each one of them. 4 Then they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different languages, as the Spirit gave them ability for speech.
Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit. The coming of the Holy Spirit meant Jesus' disciples could begin their work to share the gospel with the entire world. God gives the Holy Spirit to those who trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior. The Holy Spirit gives us power to to do God's work, and He changes us to be more like Jesus. Peter told the people that they could be saved. People should confess their sins and turn away from them. Then they should be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins. |

psalm 23 |
god deserves our wholehearted devotion
2:41 So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about 3,000 people were added to them. 42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to the prayers.
43 Then fear came over everyone, and many wonders and signs were being performed through the apostles. 44 Now all the believers were together and held all things in common. 45 They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as anyone had a need. 46 Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple complex, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with a joyful and humble attitude, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And every day the Lord added to them those who were being saved. |
god's word is life-changing
|
"give me life through your word" (Psalm 119:37)
3:6 But Peter said, “I don’t have silver or gold, but what I have, I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!” 7 Then, taking him by the right hand he raised him up, and at once his feet and ankles became strong. 8 So he jumped up, stood, and started to walk, and he entered the temple complex with them—walking, leaping, and praising God.9 All the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 and they recognized that he was the one who used to sit and beg at the Beautiful Gate of the temple complex. So they were filled with awe and astonishment at what had happened to him.
After Jesus returned to heaven, the Holy Spirit gave the disciples power to keep working. Peter healed a man who was lame with the power of Jesus' name. God changed the hearts of believers, and they shared what they had so no one was needy. God gives the Holy Spirit to believers today so the church can tell other about Jesus and show them his love. Peter told the crowd that even though our bodies may not be crippled like the beggar, we're all crippled by sin. There's nothing we can do to help ourselves. Only by giving our sins to God, and asking for forgiveness through Jesus. Believing in Jesus, God's Son, changes our lives. |

(Acts 6-7) stephen serves godEveryone in the church has a role in God's work. Seven men were chosen to take care of others, and those who taught kept teaching the word of God. Many people heard the word of God and came to believe and trust in Jesus.
Stephen was killed because he was a Christian. Jesus told his followers that they would be persecuted -- hated, hurt, or even killed -- for loving Him. Jesus also said that those who suffer for Him would be blessed. We can face suffering in this life because we know great joy is waiting for us in heaven. 7:55 But Stephen, filled by the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven. He saw God’s glory, with Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and he said, 56 “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!” ... he called out: “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!” 60 Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin!” |

Paul and Silas went back to visit all the towns in which Paul had preached God's message in his first journey. He wanted to see how the believers were doing. They traveled to Lystra where a young disciple named Timothy joined them, and from there they went on to the city of Philippi. While Paul and Silas were in prison, they prayed and sang songs to God. The jailer was saved because he believed in Jesus. Jesus offers us salvation as a gift. He did all the work to save us by dying on the cross. We do not need to earn salvation; we just need to receive it by believing in Jesus.

Paul and Silas traveled to Thessalonica and began preaching in the synagogue about Jesus. Some of the Jews and Greeks there became believers, but others wanted to attack Paul and Silas. They escaped and went to Berea where the same thing happened. Paul sent word for Silas and Timothy to come to him in Athens as soon as possible.
The men of Athens worshipped a false god whom they did not know. Paul explained to the men God's plan of salvation. He said that only God should be worshipped. Paul talked about Jesus and the resurrection. People can know God because Jesus took the punishment from sin that separates people from God. The only true God, the creator of heaven and earth, the all-powerful One who needed nothing from humans but reached out and gave us what we needed: salvation though the death and resurrection of God's Son, Jesus Christ. |
