(Psalm 8)
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. 3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? (Psalm 19) The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky proclaims the work of His hands. |
praise god who created the world (Genesis 1-2)1:1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
The created universe tells a story. The size of the universe hints at the enormity of God. The beauty of a field of flowers hints at God's beauty. The majesty of the mountain range hints at God's majesty and splendor. The power of a waterfall hints at God's omnipotence. |
worship god for we are his handiwork (genesis 1-2)

2:26-27 Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. |
God created everything. He created the world and people to bring Him glory. Christ is ruler over all of God's creation. All of creation was created through Him, by Him, and for Him. Everything was created to give glory to Christ, but people would choose not to give Him glory. The rest of the Bible reveals how Jesus would restore the relationship between God and man.

(Psalm 32)
Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. 2 Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. 3 For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. 5 I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. |
|
(Psalm 51)
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! 3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. 4 Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. 11 Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. |
give thanks to god (genesis 3-4) |
4:5 Cain was very angry, and his face fell. 6 The Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why has your face fallen? 7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is contrary to you, but you must rule over it.”
11:4 By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks. God had promised that one of Eve's descendants would put an end to sin and death. Cain was not that descendant. He was sinful like his parents, Adam and Eve. So people kept living and trusting God to keep His promise. At just the right time, God would send His Son to save sinners. |

praise god for his faithfulness (gEnesis 7:1-9:16)
people build a tower at babel (genesis 11:1-9)
Sin separates people from God and one another. Instead of glorifying God, people chose to ignore God's plan and glorify themselves. This didn't stop God's plan to scatter the people to form nations. Eventually one of those nations would become God's chosen people. Through the nation of Israel, Christ would come to save the world.

ABram follows god's direction (genesis 12:1-8)
(Psalm 48)
Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise, in the city of our God, his holy mountain. For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end. |

12:1 Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. 2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him for righteousness. By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and set out for a place that he was going to receive as an inheritance. He went out, even though he did not know where he was going. 9 By faith he stayed as a foreigner in the land of promise, living in tents as did Isaac and Jacob, coheirs of the same promise. 10 For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose architect and builder is God. |
praise god brings peace
14 After Lot had separated from him, the Lord said to Abram, “Look from the place where you are. Look north and south, east and west, 15 for I will give you and your offspring forever all the land that you see. 16 I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust of the earth, then your offspring could be counted. 17 Get up and walk around the land, through its length and width, for I will give it to you.”

|
(genesis 15:1-18)
God chose Abram to be the father of the nation in which Jesus would be born. In this way, Abram would bless all nations, as God had promised. God also saw Abram's faith in God's promises and counted it as righteousness. It is faith in Jesus' perfect righteousness that brings salvation to God's people.
(genesis 18:1-19:29) |

Isaac (genesis 21:1-6)
God fulfilled His promise to Abraham by giving him a son. Isaac was the hope of Abraham and Sarah for a future and a legacy. God fulfilled His promise to the world by giving us His Son. Jesus ultimately fulfilled God's promise to Abraham, and He is the hope of the world for salvation and redemption.
