"Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”
And so ends Luke with a promise. Because of how the NT is organized, we'll be covering John in between Luke and Acts, which is in some ways unfortunate. Luke and Acts were meant to be read together, so we'll be left with some suspense as we take a break to work through John. When we return to Acts we'll pick up right where Luke leaves off: with the promise. Jesus affirms again all that was written in the Old Testament about Himself, but also gives a command: you must tell others these things. "But wait," Jesus says "because the Holy Spirit will come, and you will be given power for this mission." And so Luke ends, but the story does not...I can't wait to pick it back up in Acts!
